Reclaimed Oak/Ash and Patina Galv Sliding Doors

Here’s a fun build we did for Salvage Factory (Designer Jeni Catherwood) in Hollywood, CA. This luxury loft apartment sports a very cool industrial feel. We made the the doors from our 8/4 Ash/Oak reclaimed stock and put a panel of galvanized metal with hand cut tacks in a stitch pattern across the face. We made the track and hangers in our sister company Porter Iron Works, our blacksmith shop. The doors have a nice lacquer finish on the wood portions and a poly on the metal. Both doors have jump stops and slide stops to make sure they center properly and stop exactly at the edge of the closet opening. Ben and Thomas did the install on this one. Some of the interesting features of the loft are the location (directly across the street from the Church of Scientology 🙂 and many stories above the bustling downtown hollywood atmosphere. We had fun on this project and on the trip.
