XL Custom Sliding Door

Here’s one of the largest doors we’ve ever done, and definitely the heaviest so far. It’s designed, built, and installed by us here at Porter Barn Wood and we sure love the space it’s in. This beautiful room is decorated with lots of hunting trophies and decor, surrounded by huge log mantles and ceiling beams, and with its high ceilings and warm textures it’s the perfect place for one of our doors. We used our reclaimed grey hemlock siding and used multiple sheets on birch plywood for the core. It’s wrapped in 1/4″ steel like our other doors and hung on our custom-made hardware and brackets. There are hidden stops and a phenolic guide we fabricated to keep the door steady. We used one of our antique cast iron “snowbirds” for a door pull. It’s a big door, measuring about 64″x105″.
