Tobacco Barn Wood Sliding Barn Door

Here is a great sliding barn door project we built for Brandon Williams @ Willsheim Design & Build. We came up with a design to compliment the living space and provide privacy for the master bedroom suite.

The door itself is 68″x81″x2″ and is on our 8″ custom hand-made industrial hardware and angle rail. It rolls incredibly smooth and quiet. There are hidden stops and angle style jump stops. There’s a wall-mounted adjustable ball bearing floor guide. The door is wrapped with welded 2″x0.25″ flat bar steel and is faced with solid reclaimed Kentucky/Tennessee Tobacco Barn siding from our barn wood lot that we’ve surfaced, stained and hand waxed. If you look closely, we were able to even incorporate a piece with shotgun game shot still in the wood from the barn. 😉 Subtle touch, but we like to see that stuff. This door weighs in at about 350 lbs, for a combined door/hardware weight of about 450-475+ lbs.
