Reclaimed White Oak Floating Shelves

These are hand-hewn white oak joists from some very old barns. This customer had us sand/finish (lacquer) them and cut to fit/install the shelves. We used z-clips on all three sides of the shelves. They are routed into the back and sides so they remain hidden and give the floating effect. This is a project we get a lot of requests for and seems fairly simple, but can prove to be difficult at times. It sure does look nice in their home, though!
